#SoCaltech: Maggie Anderson

“As freshmen, my roommate, Sierra Lopezalles, and I were inspired by the many beautiful murals in Ruddock house, and we decided to add our own. I have been fond of the artwork and message of the movie UP for many years, and I knew that it would be the perfect theme for an uplifting mural. When we saw the large empty white wall above a staircase in the house, we knew that it was the best place for a mural that declares that ‘adventure is out there.’ We spent three months, from November to the end of January, up on a scaffold bringing it to life. Painting the mural was a great way to de-stress and escape from classwork for a while. In the end, our painting allowed us to, quite literally, leave our mark on Ruddock house, and I hope that it will continue to inspire Rudds for years to come.”

Maggie Anderson is a senior double majoring in physics and history.
